How Would I Answer This Essay Question?
Imagine you live in a colony of the British Empire. You and your family have lived here happily for many years before the European Industrial Power arrived. Your community did not have any machines or industry but was rich with gold, minerals, agricultural produce and tall trees to build strong ships and houses. Write a five-paragraph letter in block style to a good business friend. Explain what you see happening to the raw materials, markets and ownership of your land. Who runs your government now that the colonists have arrived? How did they gain power over the local people so easily?
