how to increase productivity of jatrobha (a plant)? will benefit by grafting with another plant? if so which?
jatrobha is a plant which is potential biodiesel product. the conventional plant has very low producvtivity. if by grafting we can increase the productivity it will help the farming community quite lot. as such experiemnets as regards grafting with same family or other matching plant family may be suggested. if any one has done any research in this direction related addresses may be provided.
Well, for starters, I believe you mean jatropha with a P instead of a B.
It is a large family of plants within itself already, I’m sure if you poke around a little bit on the internet you’ll find certain members of the family that grow faster/better than others.
Check the University of Florida website, IFAS, they store all kinds of plant info on their agricultural site.

Factory Farming $106.74 Factory farming is the practice of raising farm animals in confinement at high stocking density, where a farm operates as a factory a practice typical in industrial farming by agribusinesses. Confinement at high stocking density is one part of a systematic effort to produce the highest output at the lowest cost by relying on economies of scale, modern machinery, biotechnology, and global trade. Confinement at high stocking density requires antibiotics and pesticides to mitigate the spread of disease and pestilence exacerbated by these crowded living conditions. In addition, antibiotics are used to stimulate livestock growth by killing intestinal bacteria. There are differences in the way factory farming techniques are practiced around the world. There is a continuing debate over the benefits and risks of factory farming. The issues include the efficiency of food production; animal welfare; whether it is essential for feeding the growing global human population; the environmental impact and the health risks. Contract Farming: Is It a WinWin Relationship? $100.37 In the wake of the launch of Zimbabwes landreform programmes and the subsequent deterioration of the formal farming industry, contract farming has emerged as a significant economic activity. It offers communal farmers the opportunity to sell their produce to agribusinesses at predetermined terms and prices. The concept has gradually taken off to provide a degree of stability in crop production that might otherwise have totally collapsed. The author investigated contract farming in Zimbabwe and came up with suggestions for improving the system and how it can be applied across Africa. It was clear from the research that the practical implementation is not without problems, and that opinions differ on crucial matters. Yet there is a great amount of goodwill and willingness to make contract farming work. Participants were largely positive about the impact it has made on smallholder community farming. Lessons and benefits from the Zimbabwean contract farming model can be transferred to many African countries where land reform programs are unfolding as a process for economic emancipation.
