Chicken Photos
I am trying to find a poem about a one legged seagull eating a chickens leg, to go with the photo I took today?

A one legged seagull carried a chicken leg
that he voraciously deboned.
And thought, perhaps,he could grow back his leg
if he got the damned thing cloned.
He prayed to Ahab for advice-
Who can help me to make this twice?

Keeping Pet Chickens $10.81 When fresh eggs are needed for the kitchen, what could be better than going out to the back yard and collecting them, courtesy of home-bred chickens? Food simply doesn’t come any fresher, and the good news is that keeping two or three chickens is quite easy. They don’t require farmland or much special equipment, and today’s modern chicken houses are designed so that anyone with even a little backyard space can keep chickens. The authors of this enlightening new book offer essential advice, provide the basic, easy-to-follow chicken-raising facts, and present their information in clear jargon-free text. " Keeping Pet Chickens " is arranged as a series of clearly-captioned pictorial spreads, each of which focuses on a particular topic of importance to chicken owners. Topics covered include pure breeds and hybrid chicken varieties, maintaining daily routines, catching and handling hens, keeping chickens in good health, and much more. Sidebars on every two-page spread present additional information and fascinating facts about chickens and chicken raising. Approximately 100 color photos. |

The Joy of Keeping Chickens $10.16 Finally backyard farmers who want to keep a few hens for eggs have a bible that’s attractive enough to leave out on the coffee table, and inexpensive enough to purchase on a whim. This comprehensive guide, written in charming prose from the perspective of an organic farmer, will appeal to readers who are interested in raising chickens, or simply want the best knowledge about how to cook them. With this in mind, farmer and animal expert Jennifer Megyesi discusses all the basic details of raising the birds–general biology, health, food, choosing breeds, and so on–and she cuts through the smoke to identify what terms like “organic,” “free-range,” and so on really mean for poultry farmers and consumers. No chicken book would be complete without info on how to show chickens for prizes, and this is no different, but it stresses the importance of self-sustainability and organic living, and the satisfaction of keeping heirloom breeds. Readers will appreciate the comprehensive nature of this readable, informative guide, and Megyesi’s enthusiasm about keeping chickens. Coupled with Geoff Hansen’s gorgeous full-color photos, this text makes for an instant classic. |
