Fish Hatchery Manager – Working in Canada
Is this degree worth it?
Hi,
I’ve been working with horses a lot of my life. I want to get into a field with animals in general and horses specifically if I can. I’m hoping to manage/run a farm or rescue operation, and teach riding lessons down the line. I tried finding a degree that was pretty general so I could always have a job. I’m looking into getting a Animal and Dairy Science degree (bachelors) from UGA. Is this the right degree for what I want to do? After graduating I want to make a moderate salary. I basically just want to make enough to support my love of horses. Please let me know what you think about my future major (maybe) and my school of choice. Is there a better school in GA? I have to stay in GA to get HOPE scholarship. Also does anyone know if this program is hard to get into? I have pretty good grades, and good test results.
Thanks in advance
LOL …. Love your sign-on! You go girl! It’s nice to see someone else that loves those bit bad boys as much as I have my whole life.
I actually can help you a little with what you are planning to do. You are actually talking about running a business, pure and simple. That’s the name of the game. Too many people start businesses and don’t know the first thing about how to make it run. This applies to ANY business. If you checked with a counselor, I think that they would agree that a bachelors in Business and Management would serve your purposes a lot better. There are quite a few electives that will need to be filled with this degree and you can use those for the classes in animal sciences, if you wish.
That way, should your original plans not work out, the degree will keep you in the right position to work with just about any company. Good luck with your endeavors!
