Is it too late for me to get ranch experience?
I’m 18, I live in Georgia, and I’m good with my hands and I love to work outside. I’m experienced as a farmer here in Georgia, but my dream is to try my hand at ranch work. I have next to no experience with cattle and horses, would it be irrational to thing in the next 4 or 5 years that I could get a decent amount of experience? And how would I go about the process of getting a job like that with almost no experience.
If I were you, I’d start looking for some dude ranches that cater to people like you who have absolutely zero experience with cattle or horses that are willing and able to take on new experiences for a weekend or a few months, or one of those ranches that have tours that allow beginners to ride the trails, work with horses, and possibly help work with cattle for however long they wish.
Don’t start off the bat looking for a job that entails employees to already have experience working with livestock. You need to start small, and work your way up.
