“Panning” technique..some tips and pointers…?
Ok, hopefully someone can let me know what the best settings to use would be..lets say I want to take a picture of a running horse, but I want to be able to use a fairly slow shutter speed, so as the horse, (or racecar) passes a certain point, I am moving my camera with the horse or car. When I press the shutter, the resultant picture should be the object looking like it is stationary, but the background will be very blurred, giving
the sense of fast motion. What would be an ideal shuttter speed to use???
use the ‘b’ setting. that way you can determine how long the shutter stays open. if you use a set shutter speed you will have to match that up with your moving object making sure you pan the camera for the same amount of time as your shutter speed is open. that’s way too hard. with the ‘b’ setting you have all the control of opening and closing the lens.
